Healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey. Every person is complex in their own way, carrying their own unique life experiences, challenges, and strengths. Because of this, there is no definitive timeline for healing—it depends on what we are working through and how deep the roots go.
At the beginning of the process, we’ll discuss your goals and priorities to help create a clear direction for the work ahead. This helps us establish a roadmap and focus on what’s most important for your healing journey.
Some people find relief and insight within a few sessions, especially if they are working through a specific event or challenge. Others, particularly those navigating deeper wounds, long-held patterns, or trauma, may engage in therapy for months or even years. Neither path is right or wrong—healing unfolds in its own time.
One of the biggest factors in healing is what you do in between sessions. Healing doesn’t only happen in the hour spent together—it’s about how you continue to show up for yourself in daily life. Are you taking an active role in your own healing? The more you engage, the more you can integrate the work into your life and deepen the transformation.
Healing isn’t about rushing to the finish line; it’s about learning, growing, and creating lasting transformation at a pace that feels right for you.

The word somatic comes from the Greek word sōma, meaning "of the body." Somatic practices focus on the mind-body connection, recognizing that our emotions, stress, and life experiences don’t just exist in our minds—they are stored in our bodies too.
In our fast-paced world, many of us are cut off at the collarbones—living in our heads (racing thoughts, to-do lists, overthinking) or pushing through life physically without really tuning in. Somatic work helps bridge that gap. It’s about reconnecting with the body’s wisdom, processing stored emotions, and learning to move through life in a more embodied, present way.
Through somatic practices like breathwork, mindfulness, movement, and nervous system regulation, we shift from simply thinking about our experiences to feeling and integrating them. This is where deep healing happens.
Somatic healing isn’t about bypassing discomfort—it’s about getting better at feeling. The more we cultivate a relationship with our emotions and sensations, the more we allow them to move through us instead of controlling us.
This work is about coming home to yourself—body, mind, and soul.

Practicing somatic therapy means working with the body as an essential part of healing. It’s based on the understanding that emotions, stress, and trauma aren’t just stored in the mind—they live in the body too. Somatic therapy helps you tune into your physical sensations, release stored tension, and reconnect with your body's wisdom.
In a session, you might engage in:
o Breathwork – to regulate your nervous system and access deeper emotions
o Movement & Embodiment Practices – to process and release stored energy
o Mind-Body Awareness – to notice sensations, emotions, and patterns
o Nervous System Regulation – to shift from survival mode into safety and connection
Many people live disconnected from their bodies—navigating life through racing thoughts, stress, or numbing out. Somatic councelling helps bridge that disconnect, bringing awareness, healing, and integration. Instead of just talking about emotions, you feel and process them in a safe, supportive way.
Root-Deep Healing: Cultivating Mind-Body Connection
Healing only through the mind is like trimming weeds on the surface while their roots remain underground, ready to grow back. It might look like progress, but over time, the same patterns resurface.
Somatic councelling is about tending to the whole garden—mind, body, and nervous system. It’s about getting down to the roots, loosening the soil, and creating an environment where healing can truly take place. By working with the body, we clear out what no longer serves us, nourish what needs care, and plant new seeds for lasting transformation.
Just like a thriving garden needs time, patience, and the right conditions, deep healing happens when we listen to the body and give it the space to process, release, and restore.
Healing happens when we listen to the body, not just the mind. Somatic therapy helps you move through life more grounded, present, and aligned with your true self.

Embodiment means working with the body, rather than just the mind. It’s about tuning into the sensations, emotions, and experiences stored in the body—rather than analyzing them solely through thoughts.
When emotions, stress, or trauma haven’t been fully processed, they can get trapped in the body. This can show up as tension, numbness, anxiety, or a sense of disconnection. Embodiment practices help us gently access and move through these sensations, teaching our nervous system that we are now safe.
Rather than bypassing what we feel, embodiment invites us to stay present with whatever arises—without judgment or needing to control it. It’s a way of listening deeply to the body’s wisdom, interpreting messages from the subconscious, intuition, and emotions with curiosity instead of fear.
Embodiment can look like movement, mindfulness, breathwork, journaling, or energy practices—anything that helps us explore what’s emerging within us. Instead of over-identifying with emotions or pushing them away, we allow them to move through, helping us build new neural pathways for healing, presence, and wholeness.

The first session involves a thorough intake including the reasons you are seeking therapy, an overview of your current life, family history, health and lifestyle, and social development questions. Then we will go over your goals for our work together. This intake is required as part of maintaining professional practice standards, helps to alleviate the nerves of the first session, and to develop a rapport.
We will also go over other paperwork about informed consent, confidentiality, and cancellation policy.
Then the paperwork is finished! You and your practitioner will then begin to collaborate about the most effective way to work together to meet your goals and start to work toward them. You'll also have the opportunity to ask your practitioner any questions you may have about your sessions, their approach or training, or anything else you might be curious about.
*It’s important to have your phone on silent to avoid any interruptions.
If this is a virtual appointment, here are some suggestions that may help:
o Situate yourself in a comfortable, private, safe space, with good lighting
o Bring a beverage, tissues, a notepad, and pen
o Minimize distractions by letting housemates know you will be unavailable for the session
o Ensure the computer or device is on a stable surface to minimize camera movement
o Put your phone on silent to avoid interruptions
o Log on a few minutes ahead of time to ensure device, camera, and microphone are working well
o Use a secure internet connection
o Schedule time to reflect after therapy before reconnecting with your friends, family, or coworkers

Most clients see us once a week, but some opt for every other week, once a month, or on an as-needed basis. The frequency is up to you, depending on your resources and needs. You are welcome to book a complimentary Meet and Greet to see if we are a good fit. Or try a session or two with no commitment. In fact, there is never a commitment because you may stop at any time, but if you’ve been seeing us for a while and would like to stop, we do appreciate having a closure session.
What to expect during an energy healing session?
During an energy healing session, you will lie fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner gently places their hands on or above specific areas of your body (hands on consent is obtained prior to session). You may experience different sensations such as changes in temperature, tingling, emotional release, or a deep sense of relaxation. Each experience is unique, and many people feel grounded, calm and relaxed or even fall asleep during the session.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the practitioner’s day that could have been filled by another client. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a 100% cancellation fee.

Confidentiality is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. If people couldn’t trust that what they shared in session stayed between them and their practitioner, there would be no point in going. At The Soul Work Space, confidentiality means that:
what you share in your session remains between you and your practitioner
even the very fact that you are attending these sessions is confidential
if you see your practitioner in public, they will not greet you unless you them first
The only thing that takes precedence over confidentiality is safety. That is why there are four limits to confidentiality where your practitioner must report to the appropriate authorities:
if you say you are going to kill yourself
if you say you are going to hurt someone else
if you say that a child is being abused
if you say that you have been abused by a licensed professional, such as a physician or another counsellor
It is also possible that if you are involved in a court case, your practitioner's notes could be subpoenaed.
